Thought-controlled wheelchair. Researcher attaching EEG electrodes to a skull cap being used as a brain-machine interface to control a wheelchair. A gel is being used to improve conductivity. This system uses sixteen electrodes placed in contact with the user's scalp on the upper part of the skull. After a period of training with the computer control system, which includes elements of artificial intelligence, the user can send steering instructions by thought alone.
