View of the small village of Quinten at Lake Walen in the canton of St. Gallen, Switzerland, pictured on May 4, 2008. Situated on a small headland, Quinten is bounded by the lake on one side and the massive cliff walls of the Churfirsten mountains on the other. The village is protected from the cold north winds by the Churfirsten that brings Quinten a mild, almost mediterranean climate. Not only grapes, but also figs, kiwis, bananas and other southern fruits grow here thanks to the mild climate. Quinten is car-and traffic-free and the only place in Switzerland which is reachable on foot or by ship only. (KEYSTONE/Steffen Schmidt) Die kleine Ortschaft Quinten am Walensee, aufgenommen am 4. Mai 2008. (KEYSTONE/Steffen Schmidt)
