GROSBRITANNIEN NORDIRLAND KONFLIKT IRA WAFFENSTILLSTAND 1994
RCOD 323-X125 X16882-1 Peace Mural Obligatory credit - CAMERA PRESS/Stewart Mark The history of 'The Troubles' date back to Britain's first invasion of Ireland in the 12th century. Since then Ireland has been at war with itself: Catholic versus Protestant, Republican versus Unionist. The recent history of unrest in Ulster began in 1969 when Catholic's demanding civil rights met violent Protestant opposition, providing the spark for years of armed struggle which ended with the Good Friday Agreement of 1998. Seen here is a Republican mural that has been modified to celebrate the August 1994 IRA cease-fire declaration. 1994 (KEYSTONE/CAMERA PRESS/Stewart Mark)
