A uniform of a Swiss International Air Lines pilot hangs on a chair at a press conference of the swiss pilot association Swiss Pilots, during a one-day strike, Tuesday, September 26, 2006, at Zurich airport in Kloten, Switzerland. The strike has led to the cancellation of more than 40 European flights. The move affects short-haul Avro airliners. Switzerland's national carrier said it expected flight delays and cancellations throughout the day. Zurich airport is most affected by the strike. The action concerns the 24 machines in the Avro fleet, the rest of the European network should remain untouched. Swiss Pilots Association (SPA), one of two pilots unions at Swiss, voted to go on strike on Monday after the airline failed to meet its demands for improved salaries and benefits. The more than 100 pilots taking part in the action want their pay package to match those of their ex-Swissair colleagues. (KEYSTONE/Steffen Schmidt)
