An aerial photo taken from a helicopter shows the collapsed Hanshin Expressway in Kobe's Higashinada Ward, Hyogo Prefecture, western Japan, Jan. 17, 1995, following the Great Hanshin Earthquake. The massive earthquake with a magnitude of 7.3 hit the city of Kobe and nearby areas at 5:46 a.m. on Jan. 17, 1995. The quake left 6,434 people dead and 43,792 injured.
