Sri Lankan president and prime minister agreed to resign after a party leaders' meeting during a day of massive anti-government protests. Thousands of protesters on 09 July broke through police barricades and stormed the President's palace, President's secretariat, and the prime minister's official residences. Protest have been rocking the country over months, calling for the resignation of the president and prime minister over the alleged failure to address the worst economic crisis in decades.
