Sri Lankan tsunami survivors carry boxes of relief goods distributed by Sri Lankan Red Cross workers during the visit of US Secretary of State Colin Powell to a relief centre in Galle, south of Colombo on Friday, 07 January 2005. Secretary Powell arrived in Sri Lanka for a day-long tour of the devastation caused by the 26 December tsunami that killed more than 30,000 people on the island. Soon after his arrival from Jakarta, Powell travelled by helicopter from Colombo to visit the devastated southern region of Galle, where US Marines are to be based for relief operations.
