This aerial view taken in July, 2004 shows Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park designed by Kenzo Tange, the designer of many Tokyo landmarks and a mentor to a generation of groundbreaking Japanese architects.Tange died Tuesday, March 22, 2005, of heart failure at his home in Tokyo. He was 91. His Peace Center in Hiroshima, built four years after the U.S. atomic bombing in 1945, was designed to become the "spiritual core" of the city, Tange said.
