Blick auf den Bau eines Heliumbehaelters auf dem Rhein-Main-Flughafen bei Frankfurt am Main im Maerz 1938. Fuer Deutschland war Helium von grossem Interesse fuer die Befuellung der von der Luftschiffbau Zeppelin GmbH konstruierten Luftschiffe. Der Export von Helium aus den USA entwickelte sich 1937/38 in Zusammenhang mit dem Bau der LZ 130 "Graf Zeppelin" verstaerkt zu einer politischen Frage. Letztendlich wurde kein Helium nach Deutschland ausgefuehrt und die Traggaszellen des LZ 130 wie bisher ueblich mit Wasserstoff befuellt. Die nationalsozialistische Berichterstattung schreibt am 21.3.1938 auf der Rueckseite des Bildes: "Der 14.000 Kubikmeter fassende Heliumbehaelter im Bau. Auf dem Weltflughafen Rhein-Main entsteht neben der Halle 2 ein 44 Meter hoher Gasbehaelter zur Aufnahme von 14.000 Kubikmeter Heliumgas. Gleichzeitig wird eine Heliumreinigungsanlage und ein Kompressorgebaeude gebaut.
