SCHWEIZ SOLARSIMULATOR PSI PAUL SCHERRER

Professor Aldo Steinfeld vom Labor fuer Solartechnik am Paul Scherrer Institut PSI verfolgt am Freitag, 4. November 2005, in Villigen ein Referat. Heute wurde im Rahmen einer Medienorientierung der neue, vom PSI und der ETH Zuerich entwickelte, Hochfluss-Solarsimulator eingeweiht. Die Anlage besteht aus zehn starken Xenon-Lichtbogen-Lampen mit verspiegelten Reflektoren, die ihr Licht auf eine kleine Flaeche fokussieren. Dabei werden Temperaturen von bis zu 2500 Grad Celsius erreicht. Im Brennpunkt der Anlage erreichen die Leuchten eine Strahlungsintensitaet von ueber 10000 Sonnen. In der Forschungsanlage koennen sonnenchemische Prozesse unter extrem hohen Temperaturen sowie unter kontrollierten Bedingungen und wetterunabhaengig untersucht werden. Luftaufnahme beider Bloecke des Atomkraftwerks Biblis am 3. November 2005 in Biblis bei Darmstadt. Die Studie ber ein hoeheres Krebsrisiko fuer Kinder in der Naehe von Atomkraftwerken sorgt weiter fuer Diskussionen. Der Vorsitzende der Strahlenschutzkommission (SSK), Wolfgang-Ulrich Mueller, aeusserte Zweifel an den am Wochenende bekannt gewordenen Ergebnissen, wonach in der Umgebung von Atomkraftwerken eine erhoehte Leukaemie-Rate zu erwarten ist. Die Strahlenschutzkommission ist von Bundesumweltminister Sigmar Gabriel (SPD) beauftragt worden, die Studie des Bundesamts fr Strahlenschutz zu bewerten. Portrait of Albert Einstein, probably taken in 1948. Einstein was born at Ulm, Germany on 14 March 1879. Encouraged by his father, who was an electrical engineer, Einstein studied at the Zurich Polytechnic Institute until the age of 21, shortly afterwards starting work at the Swiss Patent Office. Although famous for his papers on special and general relativity, he won the 1921 Nobel Prize for physics for his work on the photoelectric effect. Einstein died on April 18, 1955 without completing his Grand Unified Theory of the fundamental forces, still incomplete today.
