Fatima Klempic-Doutbasic was 26 years old in July 1995. She had two and a half years earlier graduated from University as a medical doctor. She was pleased she could work at the hospital in Srebrenica as it had earned a very good reputation. In in 1995 things had dramatically changed and she ended up being a very young doctor working in extremely difficult situations with almost no equipment. The worst wartime situation in Europe since the second world war was happening outside the hospital and they were only a hand full of doctors working. When the genocide really started, Fatima as well as the other medical staff decide to walk with around 10000 others to Tuzla, 120 km away in order to reach the other "safe area". Fatima was one of only a handful of women to walk and to survive. Today, she works a gynaecologist and deliver babies at the University Hospital in Tuzla. A large group of the prisoners who had been held overnight in Bratunac were bussed in a convoy of 30 vehicles to the Grbavci school in Orahovac early in the morning of 14 July 1995. When they got there, the school gym was already half-filled with prisoners who had been arriving since the early morning hours and, within a few hours, the building was full. Survivors estimated that there were 2,000 to 2,500 men there, some of them very young and some quite elderly, although the ICTY Prosecution suggested this may have been an over-estimation and that the number of prisoners at this site was probably closer to 1,000. Some prisoners were taken outside and killed. At some point, a witness recalled, General Mladic arrived and told the men: "Well, your government does not want you, and I have to take care of you." - In July 1995, during the war in Ex-Yugoslavia, a genocide took place in Srebrenica. Srebrenica, November 2014 - Saliah Osmanovic is preparing Bosnian coffee in her kitchen, November 2014. - Saliah lives about an hour outside of Srebrenica. To meet someone with the sort of spirit that she has is not common. However, when you lear that she lost both sons and her husband during the Srebrenica Genocide in July 1994- then, it is extraordinary to still posses the spirit, energy and will power as Saliha has. She tells me that she uses work to keep her going. To produce what she needs is hard work- and she enjoys it- makes her not think too much about the sad things in life. In the documentory by the BBC "A Cry From the Grave" which is based on interviews with survivors (many whom you will see in my pictures). Two minutes into the movie, you see Ramo, who shouts the name of his son, Nermin. He asks Nermin to come down from the woods. What you do not see is the Bosnian Serb soldier holding a gun to his head. Ramo and his son were both executed. Enver was next to Ramo when this footage was filmed (by a Bosnian Serb soldier). On July 7th I will revisit this location with Enver, as well as visit Ramo's widow, Saliha Osmanovic, whom Enver has not met since 1995. (KEYSTONE/ Kristian Skeie)

Srebrenica, November 2014 - Saliah Osmanovic in her vegetable garden, behind her house. She produces the majority of food that she needs during the year. - Saliah Osmanovic lives about an hour outside of Srebrenica. To meet someone with the sort of spirit that she has is not common. However, when you lear that she lost both sons and her husband during the Srebrenica Genocide in July 1994- then, it is extraordinary to still posses the spirit, energy and will power as Saliha has. She tells me that she uses work to keep her going. To produce what she needs is hard work- and she enjoys it- makes her not think too much about the sad things in life. In the documentory by the BBC "A Cry From the Grave" which is based on interviews with survivors (many whom you will see in my pictures). Two minutes into the movie, you see Ramo, who shouts the name of his son, Nermin. He asks Nermin to come down from the woods. What you do not see is the Bosnian Serb soldier holding a gun to his head. Ramo and his son were both executed. Enver was next to Ramo when this footage was filmed (by a Bosnian Serb soldier). On July 7th I will revisit this location with Enver, as well as visit Ramo's widow, Saliha Osmanovic, whom Enver has not met since 1995. (KEYSTONE/ Kristian Skeie)

Advija works for a local radio station in Vogocka, outside Sarajevo, June 12, 2012. In July 2013, she buried her father in Potocari, after he had been identified. Srebrenica used to be famous for its local water which is very high in minerals. There used to be a spa there wher people from former Yugolslavia used to visit for holiday.
