Illustration of the Belgian physicist Francois Englert (born 1932). Englert is a theoretical physicist who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2013, along with the British physicist Peter Higgs. The prize was for their work on the Brout-Englert-Higgs mechanism, which explains how subatomic particles are given mass through their interaction with the Higgs field.
