AFGHANISTAN KONFLIKT TRUPPEN
epa03556155 An Italian soldier (L) of the NATO troops in Afghanistan stands guard during a graduation ceremony of Afghan army soldiers in Herat, Afghanistan, 26 January 2013. Afghan President Hamid Karzai on 14 January said that Afghan tribal elders must lay out the rules for immunity from prosecution for US soldiers who continue to be stationed in the country after their combat mission ends in 2014. But, with the NATO mandate expiring in 2014, a new agreement would have to be made, meaning any decision by Afghan elders would also need to be approved by the US. Media reports said that the troop levels could range from a few thousand up to 20,000 soldiers. EPA/JALIL REZAYEE
