AEGYPTEN PHILAE TEMPEL
Temple at Philae, Egypt. The complex of temples at Philae was built over a period of 800 years from around 700 BC. This is Trajan's Kiosk, which shows depictions of the Roman Emperor Trajan (53-117 AD) who ruled Egypt as part of the Roman Empire. He is depicted as a pharaoh in this temple. From 1977- 1980, the temples of Philae were rescued from the rising waters of the Nile (rising due to the Aswan High Dam) and rebuilt on a higher island nearby.
