MONGOLEI NOMADEN HIRTE
Mongolian nomads herd sheep in the countryside about 250 kilometres west of Ulaan Baatar, Friday 05 September 2003. Roughly half of Mongolia's 2.5 million people still maintain a nomadic lifestyle, moving their 'ger' (a tent-like structure built with a collapsable wooden frame) and other possessions as often as twice a month in search of fresh grass for their livestock. With a land mass five times that of Germany, Mongolia's extremely low population density of 1.4 square kilometers per person has preserved this ancient lifestyle.
