KOREA NORD PROPAGANDA
A picture dated 01 June 2006 shows a mural of late leader Kim Il Sung standing in the centre of an arts institute which is largely devoted to producing works glorifying the North Korean leadership in Pyongyang, North Korea. North Korea remains the leading exponent of the Socialist Realist school of artistic expression which dates back to the early revolutionary Soviet Union. Strident slogans, square jawed worker heroes and triumphal praise of the leadership add colour to the otherwise drab and concrete filled expanses of North Korea. EPA/ADRIAN BRADSHAW
