Environmental activist Greta Thunberg represented as a Christian saint saving the world, conceptual image. Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg (born 2003) rose to prominence at the age of 15 when she campaigned for action on global warming, with her protests leading to a worldwide movement of school strikes for action on climate change. She has continued to campaign on these issues and the needed lifestyle changes to avert a climate catastrophe. In September 2019, she addressed the UN Climate Action Summit in New York. Recognition of her efforts has included the International Children's Peace Prize (2019) and the Ambassador of Conscience Award (2019). The swift rise to fame of Thunberg, and the reaction of the public to her campaigning, has led to her being called a 'climate messiah'. (KEYSTONE/SCIENCE PHOTO LIBRARY/SMETEK/SCIENCE PHOTO LIBRARY)
