Scientists prepare an airship that will bring up probes of the research base AWIPEV to different heights behind the atmosphere observatory of the resarch station Kings Bay in Ny-Ålesund on Spitsbergen, Norway, 09 April 2015. In the French-German research base AWIPEV scientists of the Alfred-Wegener-Institute (AWI) work together with the French Polar institute Paul Émile Victor (IPEV) in the fields of biological, geological and meteorological research. About 200 million Euros from Germany go to the marine and polar research yearly. 20 million Euros go to resaerch projects related to the Arctic.
