USA HAWAII VULKAN KILAUEA
Lava from the banana flow of the Kilauea volcano in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park pours into the Pacific Ocean, Saturday, June 12, 2004. The banana flow was named for a forested area near the top of the volcano where there were some banana trees. Lava from the Kilauea eruption, which began Jan. 3, 1983, reached the ocean for the first time in nearly a year on May 30. The lava has created more than 500 acres of new land along the Puna coastline. (KEYSTONE/AP Photo/David Jordan)
