OESTERREICH WAHLEN NATIONALRAT
Austria's Social Democrats Party leader Alfred Gusenbauer laughs prior to a tv discussion after general elections in Vienna Sunday 01 October 2006. Austria appeared headed for a change of government Sunday after the opposition Social Democrats (SP) appeared to have snatched election victory from the ruling conservative People s Party. With 94 per cent of votes counted, the Social Democrats were leading with 35.8 per cent, marginally ahead of the ruling VP, which with 34.5 per cent looked to have sustained heavy losses compared to 2002.
