SPACE SHUTTLE DISCOVERY
Fish-eye view from the rear window of the Shuttle Discovery and Earth, taken during Mission STS-51, (9/12/93-9/22/93). The swirl of cloud seen on Earth is Hurricane Kenneth. In the cargo bay is the ORFEUS astronomy package, mounted on a Shuttle Pallet Satellite (SPAS), module. ORFEUS was deployed for a six day free-flight before retrieval. The Shuttle Remote Manipulator System (SRMS), arm is seen at right. At bottom right in the bay are two white Get-Away Special (GAS), experiment containers. (KEYSTONE/SCIENCE SOURCE/Science Source)
