FRANCE RAIL STRIKE
epa04250900 Railways passengers wait in front of an information board during an SNCF French national railways strike at Gare de l'Est train station in Paris, France, 12 June 2014. Thousands of French travellers and commuters were left stranded as train drivers walked off the job, paralysing suburban and intercity rail services. High-speed TGV trains were heavily disrupted as were commuter services linking the Paris suburbs to the city. The strike, which started a day earlier, was called over the government's proposals to reform French rail by merging the SNCF and state railway infrastructure manager RFF, among other measures.
