Chinese officials check an illegal processing stall in Nanjing, east of China's Jiangsu province, on Tuesday 03 January, 2006. Chinese police closed down a duck processing factory that had no inspection certificate or sanitation license in a district of Nanjing. Government researchers confirmed that the disease killing 1,800 birds late December in a village in Dazhu county in the southwest Chinese province, was the H5N1 bird flu virus, the agriculture ministry said on Tuesday. A total of 12,900 poultry were culled in the vicinity following the outbreak in Dazhu county. EPA/STR
