epa04990698 YEARENDER 2015 FEATURE PACKAGES..(06/18) A drawing is scratched on a wall of a Korai 4 prison cell used by the Gestapo secret police during World War II in Athens, Greece, 09 June 2015. Thousands of Greeks were held in this facility during the Nazi occupation. During WWII, Greece lost ten percent of its population, almost one million people, of which 400,000 starved to death, according to statistics. Greece has never waived its claim for war reparations from Germany, while survivors of Nazi atrocities in Greek towns and villages are currently in court battles to claim compensation.
