TRANSIT CAMP FRIEDLAND
Two refugees from Thuringia (GDR) on a bunk bed in the camp in Friedland (undated). On 26 September 1945, the British Army has opened a reception camp in the small town Friedland. The town was chosen because it lies between the British, the American, and the Russian zone. Refugees, homecomers from the war, and immigrants were received in Friedland and provided with their basic needs. (KEYSTONE/DPA/dpa)
