Haneefa Begum, a Kashmiri village woman and a mother of four lost her hunband in the 08 October 2005 earthquake, holds her three-year old son, Khushaal Ahmad, as her other two children look on inside a tent in Drangyari, some 140 kms north of Srinagar, the summer capital of Indian Kashmir, Saturday 06 May 2006. Residents of Rangward, a small hamlet, were forced to flee after the surrounding Banderkot hill developed dangerous cracks following 08 October earthquake and floods washed away all their cultivable land, leaving all the 82 families, which contain some 400 people homeless and jobless. Two main concerns of villagers, that they should have a permanent place to live in and some land they could cultivate for their livelihood, are alarming if ignored, for few more months starvation of humans and cattle cannot be avoided.
