JAPAN WIRTSCHAFT BOERSE
A Japanese businessman looks at a Nikkei stock market screen in Tokyo, Thursday, 22 July 2004. Tokyo stocks fell sharply Thursday morning, hit mainly by declines in technology issues after a plunge in U.S. high-tech shares overnight. The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 177.45 points, or 1.55 percent, to end the morning at 11,256.41. Stocks traded lower throughout the morning on selling prompted by declines in U.S. shares, which were pulled down by selling in high-tech shares on concerns about corporate earnings outlooks, brokers said.
