The Statue of Liberty is accepted by Levi Morton, American ambassador in France, on July 5, 1884 in Paris from Count de Lesseps. Two years later, on October 28, 1886, the statue was inaugurated in New York. (KEYSTONE/Musee des Arts Decoratifs)
