M14 Globular Star Cluster, optical image. This cluster, 72 light-years across, lies around 29,000 light years from Earth in the constellation Ophiuchus. Globular clusters are concentrations of 10,000 to one million stars, which are tightly bound gravitationally. Most clusters are old, being dated around 13 billion years old.
