USA PROHIBITION
Garter flask. Dancer demonstrating the latest fashion for the use of a concealed garter flask for carrying alcoholic drinks during prohibition in the USA. This flask, similar to a hip flask, is held in place by a garter, a band of fabric used to prevent a stocking falling down. Prohibition in the USA (1920-1933) was the period when the sale and purchase of alcoholic drinks was banned. Photographed on 26 January 1926, in Washington DC, USA.
