TENNIS WIMBLEDON 2003
Swede Peter Lundgren, coach of Roger Federer, and Miroslava Vavrinec, Federer's girlfriend, watch the 21-year-old Swiss playing against Mark Philippoussis of Australia in the Men's Final at the All England Lawn Tennis Championships in Wimbledon, Sunday 06 July 2003. World number 2 Roger Federer confirmed Tuesday that he has split from his Swedish coach Peter Lundgren. The 22-year-old Wimbledon and Masters Cup champion cited the "need for a new sporting direction" for his decision to separate from his coach of three years, during which time he has moved from 30 in the world to his current number 2 standing. Switzerland's Davis Cup captain, Marc Rosset, and Severin Luethi have been named as possible successors. EPA/GERRY PENNY
