ITALIEN VENEDIG KANAL
A man observes from a little bridge an almost dry and frozen canal on Thursday, January 10, 2002, followinga dry spell and sub-zero temperatures which are hitting Italian northern regions since some weeks. Venice - which always features the phenomenon of "acqua alta" (high water) during the autumn-winter season - is living the strange phenomenon of a low tide, some 65 cm below the sea level, during this winter, making the navigation on its canals often impossible.
