RCOD 273-X43 X 19207-01 Viv Albertine and Palmolive. Obligatory Credit - CAMERA PRESS/ Caroline Coon *HIGHER FEES*. Viv Albertine and Palmolive of the all-girl punk band, the Slits, at the Rock Against Racism rally in Victoria Park, London, 1978. The festival was formed in reaction to the growing xenophobia and racism in Britain in the late 70's, fuelled by Nazi organisations and the National front. A huge rally of 100,000 people marched the six miles from Trafalgar Square through London's East End, the heart of National Front territory, to Victoria Park in Hackney where bands, including the Clash, X-Ray Spex and Tom Robinson played an all-day concert. 1978 (KEYSTONE/CAMERA PRESS/Caroline Coon)
