The falcon is the national bird of Qatar and part of the culture of the Qatari people. The Falcon Hospital is located in the Falcon Souq within the Souq Waqif and was established in 2008. The hospital says that it provides clinical and laboratory services to a daily turnover of 130-150 falcons during the peak season and up to 50 falcons daily during the moulting season. Those services include, among others, surgery, endoscopic examinations, x-ray, tests to detect diseases and infections, regular health check-ups and falcon identification via microchips, leg rings and identification cards.
