epa10326691 Serhiy (39, C) has dinner with his mother Svitlana (73), at their house, in Kherson, southern Ukraine, 24 November 2022 (issued 25 November 2022). Svitlana together with her adult son Serhiy spent the whole time in Kherson during the Russian occupation. In their house like other people in Kherson, they have no water or electricity at this moment. The Russian army, after its retreat from Kherson, destroyed critical infrastructure in the city, including electricity and water supplies. Ukrainian troops entered Kherson on 11 November after the Russian army had withdrawn from the city which they captured in the early stage of the conflict, shortly after Russian troops had entered Ukraine in February 2022. Russian troops for the past few days intensified the shelling of Kherson. The lack of electricity and running water in the town during the winter season has forced many locals to leave Kherson.
