DINSLAKEN, NORTH RHINE-WESTPHALIA, GERMANY - EXCAVATOR IN…
Neue Emschermuendung in den Rhein, Dinslaken, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Deutschland Dinslaken, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany - Excavator in the construction field of the new Emscher river mouth into the Rhine. The Emscher river mouth into the Rhine is being moved from Dinslaken to Voerde, almost 500 meters to the north. Fish will then be able to swim barrier-free up the new Emscher from the Rhine through a newly created floodplain. The Emscher has been completely free of wastewater since January 2022 following the construction of a parallel sewer. The river was previously an open, above-ground combined sewer with rainwater and wastewater. (KEYSTONE/mauritius images/RUPERT OBERHAEUSER)
