epa08431342 Ecuadorian rider Richard Carapaz of the Movistar Team celebrates on the podium wearing the overall leader's pink jersey after winning the 14th stage of the 102nd Giro d'Italia cycling race over 131km from Saint-Vincent to Courmayeur, Italy, 25 May 2019 (reissued 19 May 2020). Pink became fashionable as a luxurious color worn by both sexes in the mid 1700s. By the time men moved to darker hues, women adopted pink and it became the girls' color. In the 1960s high fashion and celebrities embraced pink. A significant change took place when the color became a symbol for women's and LGBTQ rights in the 1970s and, from 1990 on, also the symbolic color for the struggle against breast cancer. Subsequently, pink is now recognized as a color of protest, femininity, joy, energy and affirmation. EPA/ALESSANDRO DI MEO ATTENTION: This Image is part of a PHOTO SET *** Local Caption *** 55222575
