epa06645704 A general view of the immersive art installation entitled 'The Barmecide Feast', which is a full-scale reflection of the neo-classical hotel room from scenes of Stanley Kubrick and Arthur C. Clarke's film, '2001: A Space Odyssey', at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC, USA, 04 April 2018. The room, which is 26.5 feet by 33 feet (8.07 by 10.05 meters), will be open to the public 08 April - 28 May, 2018. The film's world premiere occurred just over fifty years ago, on 02 April, 1968 - at Uptown Theater in Washington, DC. Hong Kong-based British artist Simon Birch conceived the art installation and worked with Paul Kember of architectural firm KplusK Associates to build it. EPA/MICHAEL REYNOLDS
