John Hays Hammond Jr. (1888-1965). Historical image of the American inventor and pioneer of radio control John Hays Hammond Jr. Hammond is known as the 'Father of Radio Control'. He spent much of his live working with and around other notable inventors such as Alexander Graham Bell and Thomas Edison. He founded the Hammond Radio Research Laboratory in Gloucester, Massachusetts and is credited with more than 800 patents on more than 400 inventions. These include patents for a 'System for Radion Control of Moving Bodies' and a 'Radio Alarm System'. Photographed on 22nd May 1922.
