A man holds his decorated umbrella to choose his bride in Tarnetar Fair in Ahmedabad on Sunday, 19 September, 2004. An exciting and unique three day fair is held annually at Tarnetar in Saurashtra, Gujarat in which villagers from all over Saurashtra, dressed in their traditional costumes and exquisite jewellery attend. The fair is a kind of marriage market for the local tribals who visit Tarnetar to find suitable brides. The tribal youth elegantly dress in embroidered jackets, eye-catching turbans and carrying colourful embroidered umbrellas come to be chosen by village belles dressed in colourful finery. EPA/STR
