PSYLLID FOOT, SEM
Psyllid (Cacopsylla picta) foot, coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM). The three claws are used to grip rough surfaces, while the round adhesive pads are used to cling to smooth surfaces. Psyllids, also known as jumping plant lice, are sap-sucking insects that are a major agricultural and garden pest. Magnification: x240 when printed at 10 centimetres wide.
