epa10755214 (28/31) Wang Bangle gestures during a live steaming show in his house in Xiaogou village at Ankang, Shaan'xi province, China, 29 June 2023. Wang Bangle was born in 1997 in a remote mountain area in Shaan'xi province. Due to poverty, many of his classmates in middle school had to drop out and work as migrant workers. Wang also comes from a typical low-income rural family but was lucky enough to finish his study through a nine-year compulsory education, supported by national grants. In 2020, he qualified in a provincial-level unified entrance examination for college entrance and graduated successfully with a marketing major in 2021. He worked as a salesman in Chengdu after graduation with a salary of 3,500 RMB (447 euro) per month, which is barely enough for basic survival in the city. Dissatisfied with the low salary and job prospects, he decided to quit in 2022 and return to his hometown to establish an agriculture business by himself.
