USA LEICHTATHLETIK CARL LEWIS
Carl Lewis celebrates after running the fastest 100 meters at 9.78 seconds at the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials in Indianapolis in July 16,1988. Unfortunately, this time was considered wind-aided and there was no world record. Lewis no longer is the world's fastest man, and the lithe body that once ruled the track is now an aging burden. Yet he remains the essence of athletic greatness, and his remarkable career has reflected the enormous changes in the Olympics since he made the U.S. team for the first time 16 years ago.
