SCHWEIZ BASE JUMP
JAHRESRUECKBLICK 2000: SPORT: BASE JUMP - 27 year old Swiss Ueli Gegenschatz and 31 year old Austrian Hannes Arch, on picture, were the first persons ever to do a BASE-jump from the so called 'Champignon', a bizarre rock tower on the northern wall of the Eiger, 3.970 metres, above Grindelwald, Switzerland, June 27, 2000. After 13 seconds of free fall, they opened their parachutes and landed at the foot of the world's most famous, 1800 meter tall, rock face. BASE-Jump - the abbreviation stands for Antennae, Buildings, Span, like bridges, and Earth points, is illegal in most countries.
