European airplane manufacturer Airbus said 04 September 2012 it expected airlines to buy more than 28,000 new planes over the next 20 years to feed the growing demand for air travel in emerging markets. Airbus forecast demand for 28,200 aircraft worth nearly 4 trillion dollars, of which 27,350 would be passenger jets. 'By 2031 the world’s passenger fleet will have expanded by 110 percent from slightly over 15,550 today to over 32,550,' the company predicted in its Global Market Forecast.
