A picture taken just after the liberation by the Soviet army in January, 1945, shows a group of children wearing concentration camp uniforms including Martha Weiss who was ten years-old, 6th from right, at the time behind barbed wire fencing in the Oswiecim (Auschwitz) nazi concentration camp. 60 years ago, on January 27, 1945, Red Army soldiers liberated the Concentration Camp in Auschwitz, Poland. Like all children too young to work, 10-year-old Martha Weiss was selected for death when she arrived at Auschwitz in 1944 but said the SS diverted her group from the gas chamber after Russian planes flew over. She said she and her older sister Eva spent their last month before liberation in Mengele's notorious experimental ward. (KEYSTONE/AP Photo/CAF PAP
