SENEGAL AUFKLAERUNG FAMILIENPLANUNG
Women are waiting outside a women's clinic in Dakar, October 2006 in Senegal..While Senegal is democratic and relatively prosperous, it is still one of the 50 poorest countries in the world, with much of this poverty concentrated in the country's underdeveloped rural areas. In some regions only 5 percent of the population has access to clean water and most women do not receive any education. Providing medical care in these underdeveloped areas poses a great logistical challenge. The goal of UNFPA (United Nations Population Fund) is to educate the poor about family planning, pregnancy and the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases. (AP Photo/Dima Gavrysh)
