German officer and later resistance fighter Claus Graf Schenk von Stauffenberg in a photograph from the early 1930s. He was born on the 15th of November in 1907. During his successful military career, he was impressed by Hitler's success, but later was outraged because of the terror in occupied areas and became driving force of the resistance. After the failed attempt on Adolf Hitler's life on the 20th of July in 1944, Claus Graf Schenk von Stauffenberg was shot summarily one day later, on the 21st of July in 1944. (KEYSTONE/DPA/dpa)
