ITALIEN LUFTFAHRT ALITALIA
An Alitalia worker is seen at a closed ticket counter, at Rome's Fiumicino airport, Monday Sept. 15, 2008. An agreement between Alitalia's four largest unions and a group of investors tapped to take over the bankrupt Italian airline envisages 3,200 layoffs and is a good starting point for further negotiations, a union leader was quoted as saying Monday. The four unions gave their backing to an industrial plan to save Alitalia during overnight talks with the investors. Labor Minister Maurizio Sacconi described the agreement as "an important step forward" in the government's efforts to save the airline. (AP Photo/Umberto Faraglia)
