A MILLION SHILLINGS
SHIMBIRO, SOMALIA- DECEMBER 2007 .After a whole night and day spent waiting to leave with smugglers from Shimbiro Beach, a group of tired male tahrib hang around a small boat at the shore's edge. Damaged by shelling as its crew came under fire by Yemeni forces on the far side of the gulf, smugglers plan to repair the doon so that it can be put back in action as soon as possible. While they mourn the crewmembers killed, the gang will wait a week or so before approaching the deceased captain's wife to ask for the vessel. (KEYSTONE/NOOR/Alixandra Fazzina)
